Learning to read English can be difficult, because the relationship between English spelling and pronunciation is complicated. But English is not totally irregular. You can often figure out the pronunciation of a letter or letters from the surrounding letters. We have tried to make a list of many of these regular patterns, which we call pronunciation rules.
